The painting was done with oil paint.
The inexpensive kind. I bought a set of colors for about 20.00 dollar's at Wall Mart. They also have some at Michael's Art supplies in the kid's art section. You might want to ask someone at the store because there not always found with other very expensive oils, acrylics, pastels and other paint medium. Maybe call the store first and ask if they have any (sets of paints for kids) and find out the price. They also have acrylic paint, water color paint and other medium (kinds of paint) especially for children.

Important note for first time OIL PAINT Users: Don’t be concerned if your oil paint hasn't dried in a day or two. Yes, it will dry,
but may take up to a week or two before your oil painting dries completely.

I then used graphite paper, its similer to carbon paper. Lay the graphite paper between your photo and your canvas, dark side down! Tape the photo copy or picture face up to the canvas so it doesn't slide around. Now get a pen or pencil and begin tracing on the picture or photo. You might need to use some pressure to get a good transfer onto your PAPER!
If your graphite paper is smaller than your paper and photo that's ok because you can carefully move it around under your photo and use it over and over!!!  Also, you can lift up a corner to see if your getting your pattern onto the paper.

Important: keep the paper and photo or picture TAPED down on at least two corners then you can safely lift and look underneath without shifting your lines too much. But if you do make mistakes that's OK you can paint over them!

You can purchase a sheets of graphite paper at a craft store like Michael's. You can also find graphite paper at a fabric store in the craft section. You can use graphite paper over and over to transfer a pattern onto anything you want to paint on, or you can draw your own pattern. I have tried carbon paper, it is a little bit messy and the lines show through the paint quite a bit.
If you decide to use a picture you don't want to ruin by drawing on it, try placing the picture in a clear sheet protector.

A list of the supplies you will need:

1. Oil Paint (set of paints for kids)
2. Oil paint cleaner solvent. (odorless paint thinner) to rinse your brush out. Not the kind for cleaning brushes the kind for rinsing your paint brush while your painting and choosing colors. It is clear and looks like water.
3. A Glass Jar with a lid : For your odorless oil solvent thinner. You can reuse the cleaner and save it in the jar.
4. Paint brushes: A medium flat head size 6 or 8, a thin liner brush size 6 or 8, or a pack of brushes. I like the white bristle brushes they seem to last longer. keep them in a cup.
5. Paper towels: or a rag. for drying your brush after a rinse. Keep the towel next to your jar.
6. Graphite paper
7. Canvas or Paper ( not too thin and kind of smooth ) to paint on.
8. Tape
9. Wax paper: tape wax paper to a flat lid or cookie sheet or tray for a pallet of paint. Don't squeeze out too much paint a little bit goes a long way.
10. Pen or pencil ( Pray and ask the Lord to help guide you and he will )

Important: MESSAGE ABOUT PAINT BRUSHES

Don't buy cheep brushes or your bristles, will FALL OUT. A brush costs about 3 to 4 dollars each. A pack of good ones cost about 10 to 12 dollars. A lot of times they go on sale at Michaels art supply! Take goooooood care of your brushes! Don't ever leave them sitting in water!! RINSE out the brush often. While painting try not to get too much paint on the brush and don't let the paint get into the end near the silver metal part. If you do, rinse it out and then wash the brush in the sink with a little dish soap. Put a dab of soap in the palm of your hand and twirl the brush bristles around, getting it nice and clean. Then rinse and dry and reshape. Keep them in a safe spot like a glass or cup. Paint brushes are like gold to ARTISTS!
